Day Four

Journaling

Over the last couple of days we’ve talked about the need to share your Bethel Sozo walk with other Christians and then to make sure you find the time to spend with Father God, Jesus and Holy Spirit, developing your friendship with them.

How might you do that?

We read yesterday that one way God speaks to us is through His Word. When reading your Bible, a passage that you’ve seen many times before will suddenly reach out from the page and grab your attention in a way it never has before. As you read it, you’ll know in your spirit that God had that passage for you that day. But how else might you know?

We would suggest journaling. Journaling and keeping a diary are not the same. A diary is where you write and keep a record of the flow of your own impressions and thoughts on paper. Journaling, on the other hand, is more about writing down what you feel, see and sense in response to the conversation you have with the Godhead. If you think about it, that’s what you were doing during your Sozo. You were having a conversation with God and hearing from Him. All we’re suggesting is that you continue the conversation in your quiet time and write down what comes to you. Over time, you’ll hear, see and feel more clearly. Also, what you’ve written down will begin to make real sense in your life. Try it, you’ll be glad you did, especially when, in the future, you’re able to look back and see what has changed for you.

Prayer and Response

There are different ways to journal. You could try two-way journaling. This involves writing down your thoughts and feelings as if you were writing a letter to God. Once you’ve finished your ‘letter’ stop and ask God to speak to you and write down what He says. Don’t rush this. Like the other day, write it all down. Then you can then pray over it and discard what doesn’t ring true.
