Council of Reference
Our intention is always to minister with authority whilst remaining accountable for what we do. To this end we have invited a small group of people we know and trust to be those who hold us accountable for both the way we run this ministry and the way that we practice it. These are the people you should go to if you have had any issues with the ministry you received from us or our team that you have not been able to resolve by speaking to us or which you would prefer not to speak to us about. Our council of reference is made up of three couples: Bruce and Merly Bundy, Fergus and Hilary Law, and Will and Jo Pierce. We asked them to write something about themselves:
Hilary Law BSc (Hons) and Fergus Law BSc, MBChB, FRCPsych
Fergus has degrees in both psychology and medicine and became a Consultant Psychiatrist who was employed in the British NHS or NHS-commissioned services as a Consultant from 2001 to 2023, and since then has maintained a small private practice. In 2016, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists for his contribution to psychiatry in the UK. He is well known in the addiction field in the UK for his innovative protocols and care pathways, which have been adopted by many NHS and non-NHS addiction providers. He has sat on several national expert groups advising on treatment guidance, including the National Mental Health Intelligence Network expert reference group on Dual Diagnosis. He is a regular speaker at national conferences and training events in addiction and psychopharmacology, has also been a peer reviewer and associate editor for several academic journals and has acted as a Trustee for 3 addiction and trauma charities. He has also published 20 peer-reviewed original research papers and 6 book chapters.
Fergus developed an interest in strategies promoting ‘lay healing’, partly because mental health services were unable to cope with common mental health issues, and partly because of the effectiveness of these techniques, both from personal experience and from the academic evidence. He is keen to bring oversight and encourage a high quality of care for the Wonderfully Free ministry.
Hilary is a passionate leader, mentor, and encourager whose heart is to see people living life well, building strong families, and living generously. With decades of experience in ministry, leadership, and community-building, Hilary brings deep compassion, practical wisdom, and a pioneering spirit to everything she does. Hilary has a diploma in Counselling Skills.
Hilary spent 16 years on the staff team of a local church. What began with administrative support grew into wide-ranging leadership across prayer ministry, healing courses, women’s ministry, international missions, pastoral care, conference planning, and team development.
For the past decade, Hilary and her husband Fergus have focused on strengthening families by running parenting, marriage and relationship courses. Alongside this, Hilary continues to work with a UK-based charity that supports families locally and in the Philippines.
Her leadership reflects a deep love for people and a belief that God’s healing can reach every part of life—body, mind, soul, and relationship.
Adventurous at heart, she finds great joy in connecting people across cultures and sharing the love of Christ in practical, life-changing ways.
Will and Jo Pearse
Will and Jo are a dynamic couple whose lives have been profoundly shaped by faith, family, and a passion for helping others.
Will’s journey began in his teenage years when he questioned the authenticity of the Bible, convinced it was nothing more than a myth. However, at the age of 16, a transformative encounter with God changed his perspective entirely, setting the stage for decades of unwavering faith. Will’s spiritual path has been enriched by his involvement in both traditional and house church communities, where he has served as a worship leader and minister specialising in ‘inner healing,’ including Bethel Sozo ministry.
Jo’s faith story began as a teenager during a Youth for Christ meeting, where she committed herself to Christianity and never looked back. Her life took a pivotal turn when she met Will at university, where together they experienced a powerful and life-changing move of God that would shape their shared journey. Upon graduating and marrying, Jo initially joined the Civil Service but later embraced her role as a full-time mother to their twin boys. Her dedication extended to founding a home-school group within their house church, fostering a nurturing and vibrant community for their family.
Will and Jo are proud parents to two grown-up sons, both of whom are now married and raising families of their own. As grandparents, their hearts are full as they watch their legacy of love and faith bloom in the next generation.
Having personally experienced freedom and healing from past struggles and generational patterns, Will and Jo are deeply committed to helping others find similar freedom. Through prayer ministry, deliverance, and Sozo, they offer hope and restoration to those seeking transformation in their lives. Their ministry is a testament to the joy of living in spiritual freedom and their unwavering desire to see others thrive in their own journeys of faith.
Bruce and Merly Bundy
Since 1988, Bruce and Merly Bundy have been living and serving internationally, answering a call that took them from the U.S. to the heart of Spain. Newly married and fresh out of university, they began working with youth and young adults in Madrid, partnering with local churches to share a message of freedom, identity, and hope in Christ.
In 1995, a small group in their living room grew into the Brethren in Christ Church in Spain, now with communities in Madrid city, Madrid province, and Figueras near the French border. They later launched Come Walk on the Edge, an internship equipping young people to navigate a postmodern world with faith and purpose.
Over the years, Bruce and Merly have worn many hats—pastor, teacher, counsellor, event coordinator, coach, and friend. They’ve consistently created spaces where people can encounter Jesus as healer and restorer—whether in churches, mentoring relationships, or simple moments of hospitality. Their three children were all born and raised in Spain; their youngest, who is autistic, continues to live at home and be part of their vibrant family life.
After more than 30 years of ministry in Madrid, Bruce and Merly followed a long-held dream and moved to Asturias in Northern Spain, where they opened a guesthouse along the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. Much like their home in Madrid—affectionately known as the “Bundy Hostel”—their new home is a place of welcome, peace, and restoration. Through the rhythms of daily life, conversation, and connection, they invite others into God’s presence.
As part of the Council of Reference for Wonderfully Free, Bruce and Merly are honoured to support the ministry’s mission of helping people encounter the freedom Jesus offers to every heart. Having personally experienced His inner healing, they carry a deep belief that transformation is possible—for anyone, anywhere. Their life and ministry continue to reflect that hope.
Whether in bustling Madrid or the green hills of Asturias, Bruce and Merly remain passionate about helping people experience the wonder of living free—just as God designed.
