Sometimes we forget. We wake up and feel a bit out on a limb, a bit down on a wet, windy day, with no particular plans and no particular motivation. Maybe we pray or maybe not; if we do, it might feel a bit numb, not for me today. Well, I was feeling all those things until I looked at the beautiful flowers our friends had left for us, and then I was on a bit of a roll. I started being thankful for having friends who always leave flowers and food in the fridge for us to come home to after we’ve been away.
They go way beyond for us, we are very blessed and extremely thankful. Then I thought of our son’s friend, who out of the kindness of his heart collected us from the airport; then I thought of the generosity and kindness of our hosts of the last seven days; for the meal out with friends; the dinner invite from other friends; finding some great seafood chowder; time with my mum and my best friend. So much to be thankful for and a heart that’s shifting perspective to look upwards to a Father who loves to give us good things. These things are as much of a reality as a house that’s not selling, health issues, financial needs, and a friend just diagnosed with cancer. It’s all just a reminder to myself that an attitude of gratitude changes perspective.
